5 REASONS TO BE OPTIMISTIC THIS SEASON

After convincing wins over Athletico Madrid and Rangers, Arsenal have claimed the second Emirates Cup in three seasons.

It is clear from the size of our squad and the experience, that we need two new signings this season, but I’m not too worried right now and I’m sure Wenger will bring in a couple of new faces in the next week or so.

We have been linked with legend Patrick Vieira over the past week, but I’m not too convinced he’s what we need. He played 10 games for Inter in Serie A last season, and its clear he’s way past his best. What would we be expecting from Vieira if he joined Arsenal? He definitely won’t have the same impact as he did with his first stint at the club. Would it really be worth bringing in Vieira to give the youngsters a boost, and add an experienced member to the squad? Personally, I’d rather go with an experienced player in their prime, and I’ll take Flamini over Vieira all day long. I agree with this post from Arsenal Analysis.

Anyway, after witnessing the Emirates Cup victory, I’m optimistic this season for the following reasons.

  1. Eduardo – The Croatian looked sharp, and linked up well with Fabregas and Arshavin on a number of occasions. An excellent finish summed up his afternoon. I’d be more than happy to have a strike force of Eduardo and Arshavin. We’ve missed Eduardo.
  2. Arshavin – The little magician is an absolute gem. He’s now the best player in the Premiership, and we’ll have him for a full season. He is going to work wonders.
  3. Rosicky – It’s good to see Rosicky back in Arsenal colours after being out of action for the past 17 season. People forget how good he is, and we rarely lose with he plays.
  4. Ramsey – I think Aaron Ramsey is ready for the first team. He never got a lot of chances last season, but I’ve got no doubt that he will get a lot of action this season.
  5. Wilshere – Last but not least. There’s not much I can say about him, that hasn’t already been said this weekend. Man of the match in both games sums it up. This boy is fucking mustard.

I’m still a little concerned about our lack of experience, especially now Adebayor and Toure have gone, but I think Wenger will fill that void comfortably.

One player who seems like he is on his way out of Arsenal, and I sure as hell hope we keep hold of is Eboue. He’s not a fans favourite, but this is a player who is one of the better right backs in the Premiership, and he seems happy to be used as a utility player. What do we do if Sagna is injured? Kolo can’t cover right back anymore.

I’m sure we’ll bring in Matuidi and Chamakh in the next two weeks, and that may be the shopping done until January for Wenger.

I’m off, goodnight.

  1. yeah gud post mate i think we should get vieira he is past his prime and cant do the box to box stuff but he can do the makelele stuff and that is what we need

  2. Rahul

    Don’t need chamakh. Get Huntelaar!!!!

  3. lucifer

    I’d love us to get huntelaar, but chamakh seems more suited to us. Huntelaar is a predator, we’ve got eduardo for that role.

  4. Super Cesc

    I really don’t want chamakh, he seems like a whirlwind in a teacup.
    He’s no where near big enough for us. I think our strike force is incredible, Eduardo, v. Persie and Arshavin as options! Most managers (including Fergie and Ancelotti) would sell their mother’s right tit for those options, come to think of it their left one as well!
    Matuidi is a good buy as he is just about 20 years old and will continue to improve in that role as CDM.
    But the De Rossi talk is steadily building in the papers, and even though it’s him saying ‘Roma have said i am untransferable’ any talk is good talk regarding a player of his calibur and the Gunners.
    We need to expensive players who will slot in the starting eleven right away, and then two cheap, decent youngsters who can be brought in:
    Expensive starters:
    De Rossi=20 Million + Denilson
    Hangeland=12 Million
    Youngsters=
    Blase Matuidi= 4.5 Million
    Sakho= 2-3 Million

    Denilson was shithouse in Emirates cup, never released the ball, his passes were wild and he got caught out of position. He should not be in a team with the likes of Fabregas, Arshavin, v.Persie, Eduardo, Gallas etc.
    De Rossi is a classy animal! The perfect counter balance for our Cesc.
    Hangeland and Sakho are tall, we need reliability to shift some set piece goals we conceed all to regularally. Sakho looked good against Rangers as well.
    Then that’s it. If there was any extra money then wenger can buy, Chakmah, Huntelaar, Dzeko or my favourite Vucinic.
    The Emirates cup elveated my doubt about our goal scoring threat, Arshavin can pull a couple of goals out of the blue, Eduardo is the coolest finisher i’ve ever seen and works is little Croatian backside off.
    We all forgot what a strike our man Rosicky has (great to have you back Thomas) and how intelligent he is.
    Fabregas looked energetic, angry and involved.
    I can’t wait for the new season. 2-0 away to Everton, i can see us beating City away, our attack can pick apart the most solid of defences so one that wouldn’t have gelled yet will let a bag full of goals in.
    we could catch United flat footed, missing Ronaldo’s sheer brilliance and Tevez’s energy and before you know it we’re at the top heading for Christmas!
