In a recent interview, Arsene Wenger admitted that he was interested in signing Karim Benzema from Lyon, but missed out to ridiculous-spending Real Madrid.
“There is one who interested me but he (Karim Benzema) left for Madrid.”
“I did not make an approach because I would never have thought that Lyon would sell this year.”
Surely, this would indicate that Arsenal are in the hunt for a world class striker, and that Wenger has money to spend if need be. If we sell Adebayor, we can hope for something in the region of the £15m-£20m mark, and that would go a long way in funding a nice replacement. Chamakh is the player being touted as the replacement for Adebayor, but this is not the player Arsenal fans want. We want a proven, experienced goal scorer. I have a feeling Wenger will try to sign Bafetimbi Gomis from St Etienne. I wouldn’t be surprised if we try to raid the French club for both Gomis and midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
We should have signed Daniel Sturridge too. He’s a great prospect and could learn a lot at Arsenal, and you can guarantee Wenger would have given him games. Not sure if Wenger missed out on him or not, but I would’ve liked us to sign him. He looked good every time I saw him last season.
To be honest, would it really be that bad to sell Adebayor and be left with van Persie, Eduardo, Vela and Bendtner as our major strikers? If Eduardo was fit then I wouldn’t see a problem with them four slotting in. Walcott and Arshavin can operate as strikers too, and we could be best off spending our money on another defender, and a top quality holding midfielder. We never really had a problem scoring goals last season, without Adebayor. Signing a striker is always more exciting than signing a defender though!

Martins is only 24 (in Nigerian years), which makes him 79 years old.

Looks like Melo is on his way, with Fiorentina confirmaing arsenal are talking to him. Eboue to go, which could be affective. A player who is versatile and happy to be a squad player, and you get the feeling that he keeps the happiness up at arsenal. Could be a bigger loss than we think.
if reports about the eboue and melo swap, together with the adebayor and flamini swap is true, i would be happy for these 2 deals to go through.
Melo and Flamini in the middle of the park that will be a awesome defensive shield for the back 4.
Regarding a replacement for adebayor, I believe we should get huntelaar instead or chamakh or what gomis. Hunteelar is a proven goal scorer, and he already has an ex team mate at arsenal – Vermaelen. Furthermore, together with RvP, they would form a lethal dutch strikeforce. This opportunity would be good for both RvP and huntelaar because the world cup is just round the corner. It is better for them to start linking up for a season before going for the world cup. Madrid is desperate to get rid of hunteelar now that they got benzema and ronaldo. Its time arsenal spent some money to get huntelaar if possible.
With Melo, Flamini, Hunteelar and Vermaelen, I would say that this summer is definitely one of the best. If possible, get Naldo as well, a 25 year old brazilian with experience and more importantly standing at 1.98m would definitely win us the high balls!!

maybe we arsenal surporters should post fun comments to arsene wenger and ask him 2 get someone wo will talk action and not money. obvviously we can easily see adebayor and toure we just there for the money because at man city they r not any beta than they were at arsenal and something good is, once they left arsenal climed up their performance.
arsenal should sign amauri from juventus because we need the height upfront and the strength and we need a defensive midfielder like daniel de rossi that can also shoot from long range.
