With the recent rumour linking Fiorentina hatchet-man Felipe Melo with a move to Arsenal, I decided to watch the Brazilian in action against Italy in the Con-Friendly-erations Cup, to find out what he was all about.
Admittedly, it’s the first time I’ve seen him play, so I’m not in the best position to comment about the player.
However, from what I saw of him, he looked like the absolute perfect requirement, and the exact sort of player we were missing last season. He can tackle, he can pass, he can block, he can intercept, he can win headers, he has a good engine on him, he can defend, he can attack, and his positional sense seemed to be spot on. I couldn’t find a weakness in Melo to be fair. He plays in the position Gilberto occupied for Arsenal for so many years, and ironically Gilberto played in the same game in a more advanced position. Gilberto also looked like he’d lost a couple of stone in weight. He is someone we need.
I was going to say that he can’t be that bad if he’s in the Brazil national side, but Kleberson made an appearance late on in the game, so if that’s anything to go by, then Brazil must be struggling of late. They absolutely hammered the Italians though.
If the rumours are true about Arsenal signing him after the tournament then I will be very excited.
In other news, Robin van Persie is set to commit to a new 4-year deal worth £70,000 per week. I’d personally like him to prove himself consistently before we decide to pay him that sort of money. That’s effectively £14,000 for every good game he has.
Bet for Arsenal, show some real support for the club you love.

£14,000 for every good game van Persie is nonsense. I actually have no idea what I meant or where I was going with that statement.

yeh ur being a bit harsh on van persie there, he was fairly consistent this year in his general play. he went through dry patches in terms of goalscoring, but he hit the post/bar AT LEAST 13 times by my count

the problem with RVP is who is he really? he is tough, he has balls, he has skills, he has desire (and i love the fucker) but where does he want to play?? he is a strange one for any manager on any side. he is surely not a true striker. and when he plays backing up the striker he seems awkward at times. he is the most talented man without a position and i’m not sure whether i blame that on arsene or himself.

I do agree prana9, he’s arguably our most talented player but I just don’t think he fits into the style of play for us. He seems to slooooooooooow things right down.

Van Persie kills us.

I hope we sign Melo. From what I have seen of him he does look the part. He could teach Denilson and shitty DIaby a thing or two.

I heard rumours that Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr al-Qassimi had bought 60% of a mystery prem club. The only clue was that they were a top club.
The favourites were:
Tottenham (scumbags!)
Liverpool (possible)
Everton (likely)
Arsenal (Please God yes!!!)
There was a time (shortly after chelsea became chelski) that i would have been against a foreign billionaire taking on arsenal, but now, i would love it.
I’m sick of boring transfer windows, boring/barren seasons.
We’ve got two heavyweight billionaires on our board (Kronke, Usamov) but neither has the balls to launch a take over bid while Hill-Wood blocks them.
So i would love someone to say to wenger, ‘don’t worry about the stadium, i’ve got that! Here’s 100mil, enjoy!’
I swear to god, if i come up for the portsmouth game, if we get taken over i will run across the pitch naked and hump fabregas’s leg.
