Juventus manager, and John Inman wannabe Claudio Renieri has criticised Liverpool star Xabi Alonso for being slow as the main reason for not signing him.
“He left me perplexed by the slowness of his movement”
Too slow for the Serie A? I don’t believe that for one moment. This is a player who has succeeded at the top level in the La Liga and the Premiership for past few years, but he’s too slow for the slowest league in Europe? Nonsense. He may not have the pace of Theo Walcott, but I can guarantee his footballing brain is as quick as any other player. Similar to Fabregas, he isn’t gifted with speed, but his speed of thought and ability to pick out a pass under pressure is second to none. These are two players who would piss all over Serie A, and Renieri is making excuses for missing out on the player.
Not really sure why I’m writing an article about a Liverpool player! Maybe it’s because I’m hoping he’ll be an Arsenal player come January, and sense the feeling of an Arsenal player in the making! Maybe I’m wrong. Anyway, the full Renieri article can be found here on the BBC website.
Anyway, onto Arsenal news. Will Theo Walcott start for England tomorrow? I think so. Do I care? Actually, I do. I’d rather he didn’t play and saved himself for Arsenal. I couldn’t give a shit about England, the love for England disappeared many years ago after players stopped really caring. And, I hate to admit it but I totally agree with Rio Ferdinand regarding his comments about Almunia and his chances of playing for England.
“That’s for the FA to decide but I’m sure if he was picked for Spain he would play for Spain in front of England.
So if that happens I don’t think it’s really working right.”
You can read the full article and interview with rubber lips here. I may agree with him, but he’s still a prick.
Anyway, it’s late and I’m off to watch more of The Wire, which I must add is the best programme ever!
