Two second half goals in four minutes gave Hull a win over Arsenal, in what can only be described as the shock of the season. I’m still in shock!
Arsenal were cruising in the first half and you could never really see Hull scoring, and you were always confident we’d get a couple of goals late on to secure the win. It was never to be.
The full match report can be found here.
Hull’s second goal scored by Daniel Cousin was down to another error by our captain William Gallas. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great header, but Gallas should have done better. I’ve had enough of sticking up for Gallas. Off the top of my head, he was at fault for the build up leading up to Dynamo Kyiv’s goals in the 1-1 draw, he was also at fault for the only goal in the 1-0 defeat against Fulham, and the goal against Bolton in the 3-1 win. Let’s put it into perspective, he’s been at fault for 4 of 5 goals the team has conceded all season. He has scored some very important goals to be fair to him, but that’s not his job.
So, what are we going to do with Gallas? Should Wenger drop him? Should he be stripped of his captaincy? Of course he should, but I guarantee he won’t.
Player ratings are simple this week.
Almunia – 6 – Didn’t have much to do and couldn’t have stopped either goal.
Sagna, Toure, Clichy – 6 – Average game for the back three (bar Gallas).
Gallas – 4 – Shithead. Never really known for his mistakes at Chelsea or his first season at Arsenal. Captaincy has added unnecessary arrogance and affected his game.
Fabregas, Denilson, Eboue – 6 – None of them great, but none of them were diabolical either.
Walcott – 6.5 – Getting better and more confident each game he plays.
van Persie – 5 – Not much to report on.
Adebayor – 3 – Was he playing?

Arsenal News 24/7

I think you are about right overall, but wrong on the strikers. RVP was very slow on the ball in the first half and his poor first touches killed our attacks.
The game should have been put to bed in the first half. It’s frustrating when this happens on numerouns occasions.
Gallas has been rubbish since the start of the season.
I’ve been utterly pissed with his performance in every game he plays.
It was because he scored back that no one really faults him for his mistakes.
Honestly, I am happy that he didn’t get a goal back for us.
Now everybody can see that most of the goals we’ve conceded is down to his bullish errors.
I hope Arsene does something about this.
Gallas should be dropped for the next few games so he can get his head together.
I thought Cesc had a bad game for us too.
He hasn’t really gotten into his game ever since his injury.
Although he scored the goal, his performance overall was below par.
Denilson on the other hand has been very consistent.
He is a fantastic player imo.
He works hard and intercepts alot of loose balls from the opponents.
He has made numerous assists as well.
I feel Wenger made the right decision in entrusting him to boss the midfield.
When you look at Wenger’s reaction during the game, you could almost feel that he knew that the game wasn’t going to be a good one.
Its as if he knew we were going to concede defeat.
I am eager to see how the team carry themselves up after this unfortunate defeat.
Lets hope we have the resiliency to pick ourselves up and do good in the next game.
Surely Gallas and Touré are too similar? We need a big centre back to win headers and a smaller one to mop up the subsequent loose balls and distribute forwards intelligently. Touré is better at that than Gallas, so bring in Djourou to do the first thing, and see what happens.
Whether an important CL game against a decent Porto side is the time to do it is a different matter…
You know, Gallas was only awesome because he partnered Terry. At the time of the Cole-Gallas swap, we said that Gallas made Terry look good. Could it be that it was also the other way around? Terry did all that maniacal, crazy, stupid things like assaulting a goalkeeper’s foot with his head. I can’t even see Gallas assaulting a goalkeeper’s foot with his lips.
Like fourstar said, Gallas and Toure are too similar. We need Senderos back, and we need Gallas somewhere far, far away. Possible Siberia. Or Leicester.
gallas never made me look good. i’m fantasic. i’m a lion. i’m a monster. i like to cry though.
Mark, you’re right van Persie was bad and I’ve changed my rating. I took the feedback on board.
Everyone should have got a rating of 4 or 5 at the most
the disappointing one was ade
real disappointing
Compared to Adebayor, I thought Van Persie at least tried harder. Adebayor should have been sold when we had the chance to.
I’m disgusted.
Adebayor was terrible, changed rating!
