TOP PREMIERSHIP TRANSFERS (2008-09)

After a slightly disappointing climax to transfer deadline day on Monday, I still believe we have signed a cracking player this season in Samir Nasri, and I would class him as a big name AND a big player, not just some unknown youngster plucked out of obscurity.

So, Wenger has made a big signing this season, and let’s not forget we will have a few players back this season who will feel like new signings, Vela, Rosicky, van Persie and to a certain extent Eduardo.

Anyway, I’m sure most of the Arsenal fans will be biased, but who do you believe will be (or has been) the best signing this season?

I may be in for a bit of stick here, but I believe the signing of Berbatov will win Man United the Premiership again. I’m not being pessimistic, I’m just being honest.

My top 5 signings would be:

Dimitar Berbatov - Manchester United (£30.75m): Massive fee for a 27-year-old striker, who has the tendency to sulk, but I’m sure Ferguson will not stand for his childish attitude, and he will be as big a signing as Eric Cantona.

Samir Nasri - Arsenal (£12m): What more can I say about Nasri that hasn’t been said already? He is only 20-years-old and already a full French international, and has over 120 first team appearances under his belt. Snapped him up for what could prove to be another piece of shrewd business from Mr Wenger.

Steven Pienaar - Everton (£2m): Was a great asset for the merseyside club last season, and I was surprised a bigger club never came in for him, or Dortmund didn’t demand more money for him.

David N’Gog - Liverpool (£1.5m): Not sure why PSG let him go so cheaply, but I was impressed with him during last seasons Emirates Cup. Only question mark against him is that he has only scored 1 goal in 18 appearances. Still only young though.

Vincent Kompany - Manchester City (£7m): Another player who comes with big expectations for such a small transfer fee in this day and age. Versatile youngster who can play anywhere across the back four, or just in front. Gutted Arsenal didn’t buy him, considering Wenger has reportedly been chasing him for some time now.

That’s my top 5, what are your thoughts?

I’ll tell you one thing, Robinho will be the worst signing of the summer. He’ll be amazing for the first few games, and then he’ll do a Malouda.
