After listening to Kevin Keegan rant on MOTD last night about Nasri’s flick on Joey Barton’s tackle, you would’ve thought it was a sickening, two-footed challenge from behind.
“Joey came on, got a good tackle in on Nasri. Then the guy sliced him down. That’s what happened and that’s what I saw, which is what I was upset about,” the Newcastle manager said.
I’m not going to absolutely batter Joey Barton for his tackle on Samir Nasri, because to be fair I thought it was a decent tackle. The intent was there to injure the player but the fact is he won the ball fair and square. I’m sure if it was a different player making the tackle then nobody would’ve said anything.
I’ve seen the Samir Nasri flick on Barton, and he was rightly booked, but Kevin Keegan is totally over-exaggerating with his comments, and was out of order confronting Nasri at the final whistle. Fair play to Gallas for sticking up for Nasri, I just wished he’d knocked Keegan out.
I used to like Keegan, but he does seem to turn into a complete berk when the pressure gets to him. If he’d have got a point of the game yesterday then he would’ve kept quiet, but the fact is his team got well and truly owned and he’s making excuses for his diabolical management skills.
Has Keegan ever performed well anywhere as a manager? The bloke really is useless, but always likeable and useless. Now he’s a useless wanker.
I must give him credit for one of the greatest live TV moments of all time though.

Arsenal News 24/7

He is a knob. Do you remember when he tried it on with Bruce Rioch? Rioch would’ve knocked him sparko!
i like nasri, he has a little bit of tenacity about him, which none of our previous left winger (pires, overmars) ever had.
Nasri does like to put the boot in.
We signed Pires, Overmars and Rosicky at late stages in their careers (26-27 years old) so let’s hope we’ve got a ready made replacement for many years to come. Could be a legend in the making.
I appreciate he’s only played three Premiership games, and I am getting over-excited!!
Nasri was right to kick out at Barton, the dirty shit deserved everything he got.
Nasri was the best player on the field, lucky he was not injured by Barton f****** bastard!
I write as a disgruntled Arsenal fan. Before you get your hanky out to mop up the tears of boredom I’m not disgruntled for the reasons that you might think. The summer transfer window has been a pain in the arse, as it always is. Some players want to leave, some players want to join, Wenger seems indifferent to the whole situation and fans believe all manner of nonsense spilt out in the press. This feeling of frustration seems to have taken root with many Arsenal fans as they demand reinforcements to equalise for the loss of Flamini and Hleb in particular.
My concern is that many of us have been sucked into the Transfer Window and left in a rabid trance which only big money signings can cure. I may be alone on this but I don’t crave big money deals, I crave beautiful Football and players who want to play for us because they want to be part of our ethic. Wenger could easily have signed Arshavin for £20m and given him £100k a week. This would no doubt have made many fans feel more confident. It would have troubled me. Frankly, I don’t want a player who dreams of playing for Barcelona one minute, us the next and then Tottenham. The same goes for Barry, a proven quality midfielder but one who’s over priced and apparently dreams of playing for Liverpool. It’s a cliché that we trotted out last season when things were going well but no one had heard of Vieira when we signed him, no one thought Flamini was good enough and everyone thought Henry was sub standard winger. All these players went on to play exceptionally well for us so who can honestly say, with 100% confidence, that Wenger is wrong and that Alex Song, Samir Nasri and even the much maligned (before he’s even kicked a ball) Amaury Bischoff won’t go on to be quality acquisitions?
We could have spent millions but in the current market what would we have got? Modric for £20m? Keane for £18m? Bentley for £18m? No thank you.
I just ask that our fans stop for a moment and support the team and understand that we are incredibly lucky to have a manager who builds a team in the proper sense. All our players are Arsenal players and know, or can be coached, the Wenger way.
It would also be incredibly helpful if our fans stopped reading crap news papers and listened to facts for a moment. Emmanuel Adebayor never said he wanted to leave as much as it’s convenient to believe that he did. At worst he said he needed to talk to Wenger about his plans. He is an Arsenal player and a hugely important one at that. There is no benefit to booing him whatsoever and I urge all true Arsenal fans to bollock anyone near you who feels the need to boo him on Saturday.
We may not win the quadruple this year but we will challenge again. Keep the faith and remember your history.
Arsene knows, unfortunately many of our fans don’t seem to have a clue!
Hey Sunny, I’m totally hearing that. I agree that a big money signing is not the answer, but the belief is that our current squad is still very thin, and an unheard or unproven player will take time to settle and it will be at least 6 months before we see the best out of them.
A big money signing is a short term fix for the fans, but I do believe Arsenal fans are the most patient of fans and we can totally appreciate it if Wenger signs a couple of low-key players.
I wouldn’t want us to sign an over-priced player like Modric, Keane or Bentley, and I’m sure Wenger will be as wise as usual with the money. Liverpool look close to signing Reira, so this could pave the way for a move for Alonso, but I’m sure Wenger will not bid over £12m or so for him.
I’d liked us to have signed Kompany and Goufrann when we could have.
You’re right though, Arsene knows. Some blogs may take offence at that comment (Arsene knows) but these are generally clueless.
