THE PREMIERSHIP HAS STARTED

The Premiership kicked off, and we’ve already witnessed a couple of early surprises, notably as the the current Premiership holder Manchester United were held to Newcastle at home.

Tottenham have the usual start to a Premiership season by losing the opening match, after the press and there own fans believe they can go onto win absolutely everything. I’m sure they won’t win a match until the 4th or 5th game and they’ll have a nice little run, then they’ll quickly fade away again towards the end of the season. Top 10 finish looks very optimistic.

Chelsea set the tone by demolishing an interesting looking Portsmouth 4-0. I fancied Chelsea to have a good season, there is absolutely no doubt about Big Phil’s management ability and they have improved their squad in the right areas. They will miss Makelele but I’m sure Essien will have a big say in ensuring they don’t.

Arsenal were not playing their usual scintillating football, but the opening game of the season is always a good one just to get out of the way and pick up the points. Performance isn’t important in this game.

I backed the Sunderland – Liverpool game to be 0-0 and I was on for a winner until Fernando Torres pulled out a piece of magic in the 84th minute to win the game. Sign of a great player, does nothing all game then wins a game. He is still the biggest diver in the Premiership.

Everton and Blackburn were involved in the best game of opening day, after Blackburn won 3-2 in a game which they dominated. Paul Robinson has two shots at him and let in two goals!! SHOCK! Interesting stat from yesterday, it was the first time in 7 years that Paul Robinson was playing for the winning side.

The football season has started and I’m already getting shit from my missus!! Only 9 months of this and she can give me a bollocking about something else.
