i realize that it's easy to criticise but i think there's general concern from ian wright. for people that read a lot of different blogs on different clubs there's always some critical views from fans who wish to see their club progess and take the next step up, sure we'll always be slagged in some corners(jealous mostly), but this is not common for ian to be writing in this tone in preseason, and gilberto, even fab says we're light on experience(i don't remember former players saying this last summer in such a somber tone, and i'm not saying my memory is perfect), we've had lots of comments from former players this summer and it's been very mixed. everything is promising at afc is my point, we'll still need one or two players of the highest quality who can go out and win us games. now, i'm not slagging anyone and never my own club, but when something appears amiss as it now does i feel it is decent and responsible to speak out as well. i've always maintained that we finish third this year because we have a fine team, a strong club and excellent players, but there are still some deficiences that i'd like to see addressed. i believe we'll have an incredible start to the campaign, a huge lift when eduardo returns but it will be difficult to maintain to the end. that said, it will be an incredible season, no one does it like arsenal.

Everyone knocked us last season before a ball was even kicked and we proved to the rest of the Premiership that we are still one of the strongest teams in England.

To be honest, what does Ian Wright know about football? Great player, but doesn't have a great knowledge of the game. People have been knocking Arsenal for the last 10 years, saying we've been on the decline. It's nonsense, everything is promising for Arsenal.

two points 1) the tots players mentioned are quality proven epl players who know their positions and have been effective against all teams in the epl and beyond 2) no, their not worth the quoted figures but the point i'm making is that certain clubs are building for now, others for a future that is yet to arrive. berba and keane are at their zenith and their prospective clubs want to win this season. - - among all the various quotes from wenger i'm not hearing much title challenge sabre rattling, and i think it's evident in the squad. it's not catastrophe, but as ian wright has just written in his column he view's afc becoming a stepping stone club and that those who are optimistic about titles are not realistic. i was a bit struck by his article as he is well placed to have a sense of these things, but it confirms mine and others' general views. i just hope wenger has something cookin' and if valencia are in financial straights as it appears they may be i hope arsene two days before league kick-off swoops in for villa and silva, and then presents from nowhere a monster dm.

i agree cesc will leave soon, but really hope he will not.
his passing is top notch which no one can compare and he is loyal to arsenal.

as for those spurs dogs, they are really overrated. But i have to say berbatov is good, but still cannot reach the 25m mark.
What i hope now is wenger declaring about that reasonable 1 or 2 target so we will get more excitement ^^

I do agree about Fabregas, he'll definitely be off in 3-4 years, but not yet. He's made that clear, fair play to him as he has never messed Arsenal about.

Carrick worth £18m, Berbatov £30m and Keane £19m? I have to disagree with you on that one Dan. I was in shock when I saw last night that Liverpool paid £19m for Keane!! You can get a lot more for that price. The only player in the Totts squad worth a few quid would be Ledley King (if he wasn't so injury prone).

to my view cesc is likely to go when he's about 25, we should progress in four years with other players by then and we can say adieu and thanks for a cool 44 mil quid. , but wait a second, those players sold by the tots are real quality and though they may not be worth the quoted figures some clubs as we already know love to pay top dollar. i don't like raising the topic but we got run over in the fa cup last year, there is a reason.
