BEN ARFA OR HLEB?

The Alexander Hleb transfer saga has been going on for some time now, and the supposed Ben Arfa transfer seem to have gone a little too quiet. If both players were participating in Euro 2008 then you could understand the delay.

Could it be the case that Hleb wanted to leave Arsenal, so Wenger had lined up Ben Arfa to replace him? Now I just wonder if Hleb has had a changed of heart and decided he actually wants to stay at Arsenal, hence the silence over Ben Arfa.

I understand if we sign Nasri then you’re probably thinking he’s the Hleb replacement? One thing we needed last season was an extra winger in our squad, and I just wonder if Wenger would like to have Hleb AND Nasri or Ben Arfa AND Nasri. Personally, I don’t think signing one player and losing one player is the answer as we are cleary lacking strength in depth. We have signed Ramsey but I can’t see him really playing a part in the premiership next season.

Maybe Vela is the answer to all of our problems. I hope so. Would you be happy with just one of the three players mentioned above, or do we definitely need two of them?

  • Personally I do think we need 2 of the 3 you’ve mentioned, well Nasri and another, as we badly missed having proper wingers last season.

E£boue is just not good enough and Diaby is wasted on the wings.

Theo started to grow into that position last season, he is fast, direct and is a real goal threat.

Having him, Vela, Rosicky, Nasri and another will be well handy next season.

  • I think you’re right, with Vela on board it would probably mean we only need Nasri or somebody else.

Right now, I’m hoping we keep Hleb and buy Nasri. I wonder if the Nasri deal was put on hold due to Hleb having a change of heart? And would we be happy with keeping Hleb and not signing Nasri?

I know Hleb doesn’t score goals and his assists tally isn’t that high but he is an absolutely fantastic player. I don’t think all midfielders should be judged on the goals and assists. I’m sure Joe Cole or Ryan Babel’s stats aren’t great, but any team would benifite from these players.
